William A. "Billy" Santarsiero Jr., 46, of Dunmore, died Thursday in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Scranton, son of Karen Kane Rukat and her husband, John, and the late William Santarsiero Sr., he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and was educated in Dunmore schools. Before his illness, he was employed by his good friend, Charles DeNaples, at Smart Recycling Inc., Dunmore, as an auto body mechanic.

He was blessed with the talent of automotive restoration and enjoyed attending car shows. He loved spending quality time with his family and many friends and was especially proud of his nieces and nephew. Billy remained brave and courageous throughout his lengthy illness and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are two sisters, Laura Kaczmarek and husband, Ron, Dunmore, and their daughter, Samantha; and Lee Ann Perry and husband, John, Dunmore, and their children, Marla Decker and husband, Rob; and Taylor and John; a brother, Christopher Santarsiero and fiancée, Marie Mulholland, Philadelphia, and their daughter, Jenna, Scranton; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John Kane and Georgia Kane; and Joseph and Margaret Cleary Santarsiero.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m.

My most sincere regrets at the passing of Billie Jr. Words do no justice when a person passes at a young age. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
