John M. Cordaro, 82, of Dunmore, died Friday evening at the Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife, the former Josephine R. Sposito died October 2, 1999.
Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Rosario and Concetta Occhippinti Cordaro and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. He attended Dunmore Public Schools and was a United States Army Veteran. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former Anthracite Plate Glass Company, Scranton.
He was a member of the San Cataldo Club, Dunmore and a Life member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was an avid New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steeler fan and had a passion for buying and selling automobiles. He especially enjoyed buying vehicles from his friend, Howie Maus. He was a strong willed man despite the many obstacles and tragedies he faced throughout his life. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are sons; Frank and wife Carolyn, Throop and Ross and companion Tammy Edwards, Scranton; Two sisters; Carmel Arnone and husband Charles, and Grace Spalletta, all of Dunmore. Grandchildren; Frank Cordaro Jr., Mari Stolten and husband Nick, Kara Cordaro, Ross Cordaro Jr. and Justin Cordaro
He was preceded in death by a son, John “Moochie” Cordaro; Brothers; Sammy, Mike, James, Angelo and Phillip and sisters; Josephine, Millie and Lucy.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 1:30p.m. In Immaculate Conception Church, East Gibson St. and Taylor Ave., Scranton.
