Angelina Mecca Costanzo, Dunmore, passed into the presence of the Lord she served on Sunday morning in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania in Scranton, while surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Anthony Costanzo who died March 30, 1981.
Born in Dunmore she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Bonavoglia Mecca. Angelina was a member of Grace Bible Church in Dunmore where she served as a Sunday school teacher, organist and leader of Missionary Ladies Group for over 45 years. She was organist for the Dunmore Senior Center since it was organized, everyone enjoyed her music. Angelina was a member of the Green Ridge Chapter #189 of the Eastern Stars and a member of Melita Coeur di Lion Commandery Ladies Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a graduate of the Powell School of Business. She loved and served the Lord and adored her family and grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the 5th floor of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, for the love and compassion shown to Angelina during her stay with them.
Surviving are two sisters, Jane Seeger and her husband William, Dunmore, and Josephine Costanzo, Clarks Summit, a granddaughter and caregiver, Christal Occhipinti and her husband Ron, Dunmore, a grandson, David Dobson and his wife Nanci, Dunmore, five great grandchildren, Nicole, Erika, and Janine Dobson of Dunmore and Justin and Gia Occhipinti of Dunmore, a daughter in law, Virginia Costanzo, Dunmore and a son in law, Robert Slachta, Dunmore, and several nieces, nephews, and additional relatives.
She was preceded in death by a son, Louis David Costanzo who died October 11, 1996, a daughter, Gloria Slachta who died October 17, 2002, two infant grandchildren, Louis and Crystal Costanzo, two brothers, Angelo and Vincent Mecca and two sisters, Anna Roman and Esther Falzone.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday in the Grace Bible Church in Dunmore at 11am with services by the Rev. Terry Ribble. Interment to follow in the Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning in the church from 10am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Bible Church 130 University Drive Dunmore, PA 18512.
