Nancy Ann Ciangola Rinaldi, 86, Dunmore, died Sunday evening, January 29, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband is Donato (Danny) Rinaldi, Sr. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this Friday, February 3rd.
Born Anunziata Ciangola on March 5, 1925 in West Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Angelina Cubino Ciangola. She was educated in Scranton public schools. In 1951, she and Danny were married in St. Lucy’s Church in Scranton and they moved to Dunmore where they began their long journey together. Her devoted husband, Danny, sat by her side, holding her hand, throughout her year long illness. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore and its Altar and Rosary Society. Until her retirement, Nancy worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. She was very well known as a baker and cook. Her homemade Italian pasta, desserts and cookies were loved by all.
Nancy’s most important mission in life was to raise her children and to help raise her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Nona” to all of her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, Danny, she is survived by five children: Nancy Malone and husband James, Dunmore; Robert and wife Lois, Archbald; Dominic and wife Michele, Dunmore; Joseph, Alexandria, VA; and Donato C. Rinaldi, Jr. and wife Sue, Throop.
