In Remembrance of Ben Singer

Ben Singer, a former resident of Hazelton, died Saturday in Scranton. Born in Hazelton, he was the son of the late Isaac and Florence Mullin Singer.
He was a graduate of Hazelton High School, Bloomsburg State Teachers College and received a Master’s from Columbia University.
He was an Army veteran of WWII having served as a Corporal. Prior to WWII he was a teacher in the Hazelton School District and after the war; he operated the family business, Singer’s Rug Market, in Hazelton until his retirement.
He was a member of Agudas Israel Congregation, Hazelton.
Surviving are a sister, Thelma Witkowski and her husband, Ruben, Scranton, a sister, Leila Shupeck, Milwaukee, Wis. Nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, and a sister, Rebecca Singer.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service today at 1:00 P.M. in Agudas Israel Cemetery, Hazelton, by Rabbi Michael Michlin.
