Ruth Feinberg, 93, Scranton, died Tuesday morning in the Jewish Home of Eastern PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Harold Feinberg who died in 2009.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Louis and Anna Silverman Suravitz, she graduated from Scranton Central High School with honors and was a member of the former Penn Monroe Congregation and its sisterhood. For over thirty years she was employed as the manager of Wolfgang’s Bakery in Scranton. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, the Jewish Community Center and its Ladies’ Bowling League, and was also a life member of Hadassah.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Jewish Home, especially the Second Floor nurses and aides for all of their love, compassion and dedicated care; as well as to Drs. Maryanne McDonald and Steven Eisner.
Surviving is a son, Howard S. Feinberg, Scranton; a brother, Jack Suravitz and wife Gladys, Scranton; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister Theresa Levy.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Mordechai Fine. Visiting hours during shiva will be on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday morning from 10 a.m. until noon at the Jewish Home, 1101 Vine St., Scranton.
