Philomena M. “Mama Philly” Plishka, 89, Dunmore, our beloved mother and grandmother quietly slipped away from her earthly existence, Thursday evening at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She is finally at peace, free from the confusion of Dementia, free from the body that was no longer keeping up with her. While missing those she loved so much, Mom has rejoined her heavenly father, her husband, Michael, who died in 2004, her beloved grandson, Michael John Wilding Jr., who died in 2003 and other family members who predeceased her. She is home just in time for the Easter holiday.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Filomena Verrastro Coviello. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and enjoyed traveling with her late husband and bus trips to Atlantic City. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt whose true joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who knew her to be the” World’s Best Grandmother”.
The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice, Pastor John, Karen Freedman R.N., Jane Kuchinski R.N. and Dr. Anthony Freda for their dedicated care.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Wilding and husband Michael, Dunmore and Michele Cawley, Dunmore, seven grandchildren, Shawn and Tomara Wilding, Karissa, Bryan, Breanna, Ciara and Jenna Cawley., A son-in-law, Bob Cawley, Lake Ariel, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary “Mama Mary” Carlucci, Carmella “Aunt Millie” Valentine, Christine “Kiki” Pascavage and Angela “Gigi” Coviello and brothers, Andrew “Raw” Coviello and Angelo “Weedy” Coviello.
A funeral service will be held today at 5:00 P.M. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore, by Pastor John Hardman-Zimmerman. Friends may call today from 2:00P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow will be at the convenience of the family.
