James E. “Chocky” Gregory, 80, of Dunmore, died Sunday in Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Jean Phillips. The couple would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on November 15, 2011.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ernest and Rose Nicolais Gregory and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and worked in the family business as a manager at Metallo’s Formal Wear, Dunmore. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving is one son; Richard and wife Cindi; Shamokin
One daughter; Patty Srebro and husband Edward, Clarks Summit
Two brothers; John Gregory and wife Carm, Dunmore; Ernest Gregory and wife Johanna, Virginia
Two sisters; Carmella Donato, Dunmore and Rosemary Cali and husband Anthony, Dunmore
Five grandchildren; Audrey Wyland and husband Timothy, Sara and Tyler Gregory, Cole and Kayla Srebro
One great-grandchild; Madison Wyland
Several Nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9;30a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
