Ann Nachlis Stahler, Scranton, died Sunday morning in the Jewish Home of Eastern PA.  Her husband, the late Atty. Isadore Stahler died in 1980.

 Born in Plains, PA, daughter of the late Morris and Helen Gevanthor Nachlis, she was a graduate of Plains High School, went on to attend Mansfield State Teachers College, and later graduated from Temple University with a degree in elementary education.  She then taught at the Friends School in Lewes, DE, as well as at the Scranton Hebrew Day School and also served as a substitute for the Scranton School District.  She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and its sisterhood, Hadassah, the Jewish Home Auxiliary, and the Jewish Community Center Senior Adult Club. 

 Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt, who was extremely independent all the years of her life.  Forthright in character and a great communicator, she had a gift of bringing people together positively in a social way.  Very much an extrovert, she loved reading and learning, and participated in various discussion and review groups.  She also enjoyed film, playing bridge, and rummy cube. 

 Surviving is a son David Stahler and wife Phyllis, Harrisburg, and their children Alissa and Jonathan; a daughter Sherry Stahler and husband Duane Stork, Atlanta, GA and their children Isabella and Amelia; a sister Claire Nachlis Berger and husband Joseph, Cherry Hill, NJ; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother Arnold Nachlis.

 The funeral will be today at 1p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Daniel Swartz.  Interment Dalton Jewish Cemetery.  Shiva will be observed at the family residence Monday evening from 7-9 p.m.; Tuesday-Thursday 1-3 and 7-9 p.m.; and Friday afternoon from 1-3 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen and Morris Nachlis Fund for Children, c/o Jewish Family Service of Wilkes-Barre, 71 W.
