Margaret T. 'Peggy' Vitiello-Golden, 70, a resident of Dunmore for over 40 years, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Golden, on Nov. 23, 1979.
Born July 13, 1941, in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret Motts Vitiello. Prior to her retirement from Price Chopper on Monroe Avenue in Dunmore in 2003, she was employed by the Dunmore School District cafeteria, the Oppenheim Department Store, formerly in Scranton, and Keough's Diner in Archbald, where she met her beloved husband, the love of her life. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, and was also very active in Christ the King Parish for numerous years and taught religion to several age groups. Her family was everything to her, and she had a lot of love for her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Anthony III and wife, Tina Damiano-Golden, Dunmore; and Mark and his fiancée, Lisa Bukowski, Avoca; two grandsons, twins Anthony Joseph and Frank Anthony, who were "the apple of her eye," and was looking forward to the birth of her third grandson in the fall; three sisters, Mary Trently, Archbald; Angela Daley and husband, Joseph, Archbald; Violet Dolhon and husband, James, Exeter; two brothers, Louis and companion, Susan Sweeney, Jessup; and Paul and wife, Doreen, Dickson City; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Vitiello, Elmhurst; brother-in-law, Paul Golden, Scranton; aunt, Mary Markanich, New Jersey; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Vitiello and Sam Vitiello; a brother-in-law, Clair Trently; and her in-laws, Anthony and Loretta Golden.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m.
