Angela M. "Angel" Frioni

Dunmore, PA October 23, 1938 ~ February 1, 2018 Date of Service: February 3, 2018

Angela Marie “Angel” Morelli Frioni, 79, a lifetime resident of Dunmore, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Devoted wife of 49 years to the late Alfonso Frioni, Sr., she is survived by her son, Alfonso Frioni, Jr., Esq., wife Jan, and children Al III and Abby of Pittsburgh; David Frioni, wife Diane and son Dean of Lansdale, Pa.; Maria Brittingham, and her sons William and Matthew Brittingham of Harleysville, Pa.; and Christine Pupalitis and husband John, of Dunmore.  Also surviving are her brother, Dr. Joseph G. Morelli (Lisa) of Lansdale, nieces and nephews Peter Morelli (Ursula), Michael Morelli (Lisa), Jennifer Morelli, Mary Jo Monahan (John), and Josephine Pearson (Bob), along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.  Angela was predeceased by her parents George and Carmella Morelli.

Angela is a current member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish. She was a member of the former Christ the King Parish for more than forty years where she was a lector, CCD teacher, member of Altar and Rosary Society, and co-chair of the Annual Church Picnic.

She was a devoted wife incessantly supporting her husband Al’s school board campaigns and standing strong during his illnesses.  She was a loving mother always busy as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Little League volunteer, President of the Schautz’s Teener League Women’s Auxiliary; and avid supporter of Dunmore High School’s PTA, athletic teams, and Crimsonettes and Twirlers. For twenty-three years Angela was employed at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, as the Front Receptionist and Volunteer Coordinator.

Angel was sweet and humble always putting her family before her own needs.  She was faithful to her God and prayed the rosary daily.  She loved her hometown of Dunmore and always enjoyed a delicious ice cream sundae!

The family is grateful to her dedicated and compassionate care-givers who are like family: Julie, Holly and Linda from HomeInstead. We also want to thank The Jewish Home of Scranton, Drs. James Sheerer and Ken Sebastianelli, and the staff and nurses at The Moses Taylor Hospital and Compassionate Care Hospice.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8:30-9a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E201, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom. Both mom and dad were very dear friends of myself and my late husband, John. We spent many good times together. You may also remember my children, John and Denise when we were all together as families. Sorry, I was not able to pay my respects on Friday evening due to being out of town. My prayers are with all of you. May her memory be eternal.

Dear Mr. Frioni,
I never had the privilege of making your mother’s acquaintance, but having lost my mother not too long ago, I wanted to reach out with my condolences for your loss.

David, Mark, Maria, and Christine

Sorry to see the passing of your mother. She and your dad were great people as well as good neighbors. Dunmore and Christ the King parish were well served by their civic involvement. Condolences also to your uncle Joe. I met him at a Temple football game in Orlando a few years ago. May your mom and dad rest in peace.
