Augustine "Gus" A. Rossi Sr., 81, of Dunmore, died Saturday morning in Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ellen Nolan. The couple celebrated 56 years of marriage on Jan. 31.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Celeste Ciuffo Rossi, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He proudly served in the Army Corps. He was a lifelong member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and before retirement, he worked as a supervisor for the former Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co.-Supermarket Service, Dunmore.

Affectionately known as "GR," he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a dedicated New York Yankees fan and all-around "Mr. Fix It." He was a very family oriented man, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him."Love, Love, Love."

Also surviving are daughters, Mary Ann Bewick and husband, Gary, Dunmore; Denise Ivanoff and husband, Thomas, Moscow; Mary Ellen Bernotsky, Dunmore; and Celeste Ann Moran and husband, Brian, Falls; a son, Augustine A. Rossi Jr. and wife, Lauri, Princeton, N.J. 12 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, sisters, Frances McHale, Florida; and Ann Rossi, Clarks Summit; brothers, Michael Rossi and wife, Mary, New Jersey; and Robert Rossi and wife, Loretta, Dunmore; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Rossi, Florida; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Bernotsky; a son-in-law, Stanley Bernotsky; a sister, Elvira Sica; and a brother, Joseph Rossi.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Kurtz Street, Bunker Hill section of Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery

There are no public calling hours.

mar so sorry to hear about your dad always talked to him at yard sales was a real nice guy!!!
