Clare M. Conaboy, 84, a resident of Holy Family Residence in Scranton and formerly of Moosic, died Friday morning. She was the wife of the late Ray Conaboy.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Moyles Cavanaugh. Clare was a graduate of St. Leo’s High School in Ashley and was the longtime Secretary of Moosic Borough.

Her family would like to thank the staff and sisters at Holy Family Residence for the care and compassion shown to Clare during her stay with them the last several years and also her nephew, Dr. Patrick Conaboy for the dedicated medical care he provided.

Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne McGlynn, Lewisville, TX, Mary Lou Fiala and husband Jim, Scranton, five sons, Joseph Conaboy, Surf City, NC, Martin Conaboy, Scranton, Jack Conaboy and wife Cheryl, Moosic, Atty. James Conaboy and wife Joette, Dunmore and Atty. Kevin Conaboy and wife Dr. Ariane, Waverly, two sisters, Florence VanDetta and husband Robert, Jane Skiscim and husband Ron, a brother James Cavanaugh and wife Grace, numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Conaboy, a sister, Mary Louise Batchelor, and a son in law, Kevin McGlynn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30am in the chapel at Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Avenue in Scranton. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Minooka section of Scranton.

Friends may call Monday from 4-7pm in the Maloney Lounge at Holy Family Residence.

Jim, Kevin and the entire Conaboy family. My sincere expression of sympathy on the loss of your mother. I know from several things Jim and Kevin have said over the years that your mom/grandmom/aunt was a wonderful and strong lady. Our prayers for your family are with you all.
