Edward T. Zack Sr. of North Scranton died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the son of Frank and Helen Fisher Zack. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Annamae Watson, in 1999.

Eddy was born in Scranton on Dec. 27, 1930. He was a lifelong truck driver for Oneida Motor Freight and was a member of the Road Carriers Teamsters Union 707. He pulled doubles up and down the New York State Thruway and knew Buffalo like the back of his hand. 

He was an avid sprint car race fan and owner; he enjoyed going to the races with his son and grandson, who own a sprint car. He also enjoyed frequent visits to his son's business Zack's Custom Truck Rebuilding and Zack's Motorsports. His dog meant the world to him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are his son, Edward Jr. "Chuck" and wife, Lottie; daughter, Barbara Festa; grandchildren, Linelle DeNaples and husband, Christopher; Edward III (Eddie/Smokey) and Mercede Zack; Elizabeth Gasdaska and husband, Mark; and Sarah Festa; great-grandchildren, triplets Christopher, Zackery and Sophia DeNaples; as well as his partner, dog and best friend, Blackjack; and good friends, Robert and Pat Thomas.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Frank "Sonny" and Robert "Cubby."

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Avenue, Scranton.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Chuck, Lottie Linelle, eddie and Mercede i'm sorry for your loss. Mr zack was a great man i practicaly grew up with this man. I was 11 and started helping your dad on the trucks till i was 16 i remember he would come down the garage and feed the dogs with the cegar in his mouth and thaught me alot he will be deeply missed.
