George John Yurchak Jr., 84, of South Abington Twp. and formerly of Dunmore, died Wednesday afternoon at home.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late George and Julia Dolinich Yurchak, he attended Dunmore public schools. He was a contractor by trade and worked with his hands to create and enhance beautiful homes and businesses for over 45 years. He took great pride in his work. He was a proud Army veteran and served in the 109th infantry in Korea as a medic. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was a life member of North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed cooking and gardening which he learned from his mother. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University and Arcadia Hospice for all of their care and compassion during George’s illness.
Surviving are sons, George John III and wife, Chris, Scranton; and Robert E. and companion, Marissa Mason, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Shelley Ann Hague, Clarks Summit; grandchildren; Virginia Shoener and husband, Matthew; George IV and fiancée, Krystle Mauro; Joseph and Deztiny Hague; sisters, Irene Palmitessa, Scranton; Susan Yurchak and Doris Boise, both of Dunmore; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, the former Virginia Dalrymple; his second wife, the former Bonnie Pringle; sisters, Mary Yurchak and Nancy Jennings; and brothers, Alex, Nicholas, Robert, Michael and Stephen.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, South State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment, Shady Lane Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
