Grace R. Coccia, 84, of Dunmore, died Sunday afternoon at home.  Her husband, the late Angelo Coccia, died in 1969.

 

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James D. and Maria A. Martinelli Rinaldi, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a faithful and devoted member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, as well as its Altar and Rosary Society.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Globe Store and the Linder Brothers Manufacturing Company in Scranton.  Grace was an avid reader who enjoyed watching game shows, ice skating and polkas.  She had also been a member of the WTS Club, the Hilltop Belles, the St. Anthony’s Playground Association, and served as secretary to the Italian-American Cemetery Association in South Scranton.  She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed. 

 

Surviving is her daughter, Tina Lavelle and husband Gary of Ransom Township; grandchildren Stephanie Lavelle Shivock and husband Chris, and Jessica Lavelle; nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Salvatore Rinaldi, and nephew Donald Rinaldi.

 

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment to follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton. 

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial contributions in Grace’s memory may be made to the St. Anthony’s Playground Association, c/o Caroline Zangardi, 644 Cooney St., Dunmore, 18512.

To the family of Grace I am very sorry to hear she past, Grace was one of my favorite Book by Mail Patrons. I'm going to miss our conversations about her favorite authors.
