Harriet Green Rosenstein, formerly of Scranton, died Tuesday in Springfield, Virginia. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Rosenstein, who died in 2011, the year they celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Born in Scranton in 1924, she was the daughter of the late George and Molly Moskovitz Green. She and her husband were co-owners of a service station at the corner of Mulberry Street and Franklin Avenue. She and Paul moved to Springfield in 2009.
Harriet was formerly employed in the offices of Auto Express and the State of Israel Bonds. She was a member of Temple Israel, the Temple Israel Auxiliary, Beth Shalom Auxiliary, Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, and the Jewish Community Center. She also was a board member of Marywood University’s Lifelong Learning Institute Senior Program and a volunteer for many years at the Community Medical Center’s gift shop. She will be remembered as a warm and caring person and a friend to many.
Harriet is survived by son Bruce and his wife Deborah Goodman, of Rockville, Maryland; son Jay and his wife Shelly, of Annandale, Virginia; and grandsons Greg and Michael. Other survivors include sisters Joline Feinsilber and Carol Rand, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 East Drinker Street, Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Moshe Saks and Cantor Vladimir Aronzon. Interment will follow in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Friends will be received at Temple Israel, 918 East Gibson Street in Scranton, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
