In Remembrance of Herbert T. Kime

Herbert T. Kime, 88, of Dunmore, died peacefully at home on
Thursday morning surrounded by his loving family. His wife, the former Mary
Dolphin died December 26, 1970 and was the only love of his life. The couple
had been married for 27 years.
Born in West Scranton, he was the son of the late William P.
and Mary Jane Thomas Kime and was a member of the first graduating class of
West Scranton High School in 1943. He was a proud Army Veteran of World War II
serving with the 97th Infantry Division fighting in Germany and
Czechoslovakia where they liberated Flossenburg Concentration Camp.
Prior to retirement, he was a production supervisor for 22
years at the former RCA-Thompson Electronics.
He was an avid sports fan and especially liked the NY Giants
and the Connecticut women’s basketball team. He coached for many years for the
Dunmore Little League and Schautz Teener League and also served as the
president for Schautz Teener League. He was proficient with computers and any
electronic devices. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch but he especially
enjoyed spending time with his family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart
Hospice especially Katherine, Rebecca and Missy for their excellent nursing
care and compassion and also the special care and compassion from his favorite
caretaker Deann Domenick who was also a good friend to him. The family would
also like to thank Telespond volunteer Bob Weikel who he visited with often and
looked forward to those visits.
Surviving is a daughter Marilyn Graff and her husband Jerry,
Clarks Summit; sons; Herb Kime and wife Lettie, Scranton, Gene Kime and wife
Sandie, Dunmore, Joe Kime, Dunmore and Tim Kime and wife Stacey, Covington.
Grandchildren; Jerry, Brian and Jeffrey Graff, Greg, Elaine and Joe Kime,
Christine Ruggiero, Kelly McHugh, Mary, Jackie and Corey Kime and fourteen
great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving granddaughter
Karissa Kime who passed away January 30,
2014. Sisters; Florence Binner, Margaret Moore, Jane Dadey, Mary Masters, Ruth
Floyd and brothers; Walter, William, Robert, Edward and Harold.
The funeral will be Saturday from the
Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with
Mass at 11:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, E. Gibson and Taylor Ave.,
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery
