Jeffrey Michael Galka

Roaring Brook Township, PA May 12, 1978 ~ July 6, 2015 Date of Service: July 11, 2015

Jeffrey Michael Galka, 37, of Roaring Brook Township, died Monday at home.

Born in Scranton, son of Thomas A. and Catherine Ferguson Galka, he was a graduate of North Pocono High School and went on to attend the former Lackawanna Junior College and Johnson College.  He had been employed in the family business, Galka Construction Company.  He was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church.

Jeffrey was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.  He will be sadly missed and greatly remembered by all who knew him. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the L.A. Raiders. Jeffrey lit up any room with his mischievous grin and his mesmerizing blue eyes. A playful soul, Jeffrey always had a funny comeback ready to go.  He was a wonderful uncle, who never went without spoiling his nieces and nephew, who amusingly referred to him as the “candy man.”  Very generous and kind spirited, Jeffrey truly had a heart of gold.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Patricia Ferguson; and paternal grandfather, Albert Galka, Sr.; his brother, Tommy Galka and companion Sarah Durkin; his sister Tracy Kojsza and husband Ryan; nieces Alexis Galka and Giuliana Kojsza; nephew, Aydan Kojsza; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Eulalia’s Church, Blue Shutters Rd., Moscow.  Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.  All those attending the funeral mass are asked to go directly to church.

Interment will be privately held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Jeffrey’s name be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of NEPA, 609 Ash St., Scranton, 18510; or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Dear Tommy and Cathie, We wanted to send a card, but did not have an address. We are very sorry about the loss of your child. It is truly the worst thing for a parent to endure. We will pray that God will help you through this and that you will treasure the memories you have made together. Life is so very hard. Nothing left to do, but pray--and we will pray. Fondly, Joe & Marilyn Haynos
