Julia A. Kamin, 93, Clarks Green, died Thursday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Shivitz Vozel. After graduating from high school (the first in her family to do so), she moved to New Jersey with a group of girlfriends, helping the WWII war effort by working at an airplane manufacturing plant. Afterwards she worked at IBM in Endicott, NY until marrying in 1958 and raising two daughters, Judy and Kathy. Her beloved husband, Albert Carl, passed away in 1981. Julia was a devoted Catholic and a founding member of the former Our Lady of Angels Church in Endwell, NY.

Julia learned to drive a car at the age of 57 and proudly drove every day until this past year. She enjoyed doing simple things like going for breakfast, playing card games for pennies, and listening to Sunday polkas on the radio. She loved nothing more than sitting on her patio and reading the paper. Family meant everything to Julia and she was blessed with five grandchildren, Christine DeCarlo, Bethesda, MD, Mary Julia DeCarlo, Astoria, NY, Christopher Weir, Arlington, VA, Kimberly Weir, Baltimore, MD, and Daniel Albert Weir, New Orleans, LA. Julia , a sister in law, Marian Vozel, Browndale, several nieces and nephews, as well as two devoted daughters and sons-in-laws, Judy and Frank DeCarlo and Kathy and Rick Weir.

She was preceded in death by a sister Jennie “Hanna” Glavich, and five brothers, William Vozel, Anthony Vozel, John Nagoda, Ignatz Grablutz, and Joseph “Butch” Vozel.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10AM in The Church of Saint Gregory in Clarks Green. Visitation will take place in the church on Monday at 9:00AM until time of mass. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Gregory’s Building Campaign 330 N. Abington Road Clarks Green, PA 18411.

Decarlo and Weir families, we are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a great person. May God bless you during this difficult time.
