Mark J. Rinaldi, 54, of Dunmore, died Monday morning in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Scranton, son of Sylvia Pica Rinaldi of Dunmore and the late John J. Rinaldi, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1981, and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University in 1985. He was currently the Athletic Director and a teacher at Dunmore High School.   As Athletic Director, he served as a member of the Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association board and the District 2 board.  He was president of the Lackawanna Football Conference and Chairperson of District 2 soccer and lacrosse.  Formerly, he served at Dunmore as head varsity basketball coach, assistant varsity football coach, junior varsity baseball coach, and junior varsity track and field coach.   Also, he worked as a football official at the high school and college levels.

Also surviving is his wife, the former Annie Hubshman, and their sons, John Rinaldi and Mark Rinaldi, Jr., both at home; his sisters Sharon Rinaldi of Dunmore, and Renee Mellin and husband Steve of Olyphant; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to the Mark Rinaldi Scholarship Fund, Fidelity Bank 101 North Blakely Street Dunmore, PA 18512.

So sorry about your tragic loss. Truly a life lost to soon. My thoughts, prayers & condolences go out to Annie, the boys, his family, friends & his Dunmore family. RIP Mark.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing Mark.
I taught with him at Dunmore High School for many
Years. He was a great teacher and a wonderful
Colleague.

so sorry to hear of the loss of Mark your family is in my prayers at this time and always worked with Mark as a football official and my son coached his sons in soccer Mark was a great person and a good friend he will be missed by all who knew him God Bless i will continue to pray for all of you at this time

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Mark Rinaldi. He was a fantastic math teacher! Still remember till this day his math lessons at Dunmore High School. He was a brilliant type of educator and will be missed.
