Nancy Sacco, 86, of Scranton and formerly of Dunmore, died Friday evening at home. Her husband, the late Andrew "Andy" A. Sacco, died Oct. 4, 2004. The couple had been married for 50 years.

Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Susan Masylar Jugan and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and was a devout Catholic. She worked for many years in the local garment industry as a seamstress. 

She enjoyed baking, puzzles, card games and visiting the casino. She loved visiting New York City and the Broadway shows. She was a very generous and kind woman who enjoyed helping and caring for others. Her family was her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 

Nancy's family wishes to thank all of her doctors, Traditional Home Health and Hospice, especially Megan, Mary Carole and Kelly. Also, a very special thank you to her neighbors, Angie Cosagra and Nancy Camacho, who provided companionship and care to Nancy during her illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Verdine, Duryea; and son, Stephen and wife, Brenda, Dunmore; grandchildren, Jennifer Verdine, Scott Verdine and wife, Marlene; Nicholas and Isabella Stanco; a great-grandson, Cooper Scott Verdine; sisters, Ann Marshalek and husband, Walter, Throop; and Agnes Maronich, Connecticut; nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Verdine; sisters, Katherine Jugan and Mary Brace; and brothers, Joseph, Michael and John Jugan.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Patricia, My heartfelt sympathy is with you and your family at this time with the loss of your mother’s passing. Know that your Mother’s soul will live on eternally.

It was a special privilege to know Nancy. Her energy was always something I found remarkable, along with her ability to always make you feel welcome!!!!! May she be her youthful self and hugging all the family in heaven. God rest your soul!

Farewell Aunt Nancy, may your new journey be beautiful....Condolences and peace to the family who will always miss you. Thank you for being a wonderful Aunt and being there when I needed you.
