Nick J. Pace, 70, Duryea, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at home. He and his wife the former Marlene Pish, had celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on July 21st.

 

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Bernard and Josephine Sartor Pace. Nick was a graduate of Dunmore High School and the Humboldt Institute in Minnesota with a degree in Transportation and Traffic Management. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he worked for 38 years at Schott Glass Technology. Nick was a member of American Legion Post #13 in Dunmore as well as a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore where he enjoyed volunteering at the annual church festival and various other church fundraisers throughout the year. His passion was serving and helping others. He was a member of Excelsior Hose Co. #2 in Duryea where he served as a former Asst. Chief and had a great dedication. Nick considered each member a part of his family.

As he helped others in life, he continued after his death by donating to the Gift of Life.

 

Also surviving are a brother in law, Marty Pish and his wife Barbara, Williamsport, four nieces, Nicole Gilson and husband Lucas, Williamsport, Kelli Gaines and her husband Victor, Texas, and Brooke and Ashleigh Kincade, both of Texas, a nephew, Nathan Pish and his wife Kim, Williamsport, a great nephew, Victor Gaines III, Texas, several cousins.

 

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian at 10AM in St. Rocco’s Church, Kurtz Street in Dunmore. Interment will take place in the Dunmore Cemetery. All those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.

 

Friends may call Friday from 5pm-8pm.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Excelsior Hose Co #2 798 Foote Ave. Duryea 18642

Marlene, so very sorry for your loss.Nick and I worked together at Schott.He was a great friend. We had many good times on the baseball team and in the bowling league. He will be missed by all.

Sorry for your loss. My grandfather Anthony Pace was Nicks fathers brother. So Sorry.
