Dear Aunt Pat,

I remember when we were at the Family Reunion at Knoebels and I also remember looking at pictures of you on Facebook as well. You looked happy and beautiful. Now that you're in a better place where it's pain free I just know that you're gonna be watching over our family and me. You'll always be with us wherever we go, especially the holidays. I'll always be one of your Great-Nieces. And I'm gonna see you again. I love you Aunt Pat!

Love,
Kimmie

It was both sad and wonderful to see my sister Pat’s husband (my brother-in law) John and her three devoted daughters (my nieces) tending to her so lovingly in her final hours. And it was heartbreaking, as well. I’m happy to have been able to exchange a few words with her and to have held her hand for a few short moments – which was especially touching for me because the last time we did that was at our late brother Dana’s funeral. In that moment, I needed a hand to hold
Love and devotion are indications of success that a sister, Mom, Grandmother can live. Pat was epitome of all that and more. That will be borne out through the continuing lives of those whose loss is greatest – John, Norine, Shannon and Sabrina.
