Ruth E. Greenfield, 92, a longtime resident of Scranton died Tuesday evening at the Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alma Herrmann. 

She attended Scranton Central High School and had been a member of Temple Israel, the Jewish Community Center and Hadassah. Ruth was a member and served as a board member of the Scranton Community Concert. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her sons, Marty Greenfield and partner M. Elizabeth Sterling of Pahrump, NV, and his children Larry Greenfield of Scranton, Sheri Tigue of Taylor and great-grandchildren, and Peter Greenfield of Collingswood, NJ; and Dr. Mark A. Greenfield and wife Susan of Phoenix, AZ and their children, Michelle Greenfield and Jason Greenfield, also of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her brother Mark William Herrmann.

A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore. Interment in Temple  Israel Cemetery, Dunmore.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m.until the time of the service.

There will be a brief observance of Shiva following the interment service at the Holiday Inn Express, 1265 Commerce Blvd, Dickson City on the lobby level from 4 p.m. until 5:15p.m.

Our deepest condolences to all of Ruth's family. She was a wonderful woman who was always totally devoted to her family. May her memory be a blessing.
