Samuel M. Black, 81, of Dunmore, died early Thursday at home.  He and his wife, the former Marie Perrella, celebrated 59 years of marriage on July 14th

 

Born in Scranton, son of the late Samuel and Olive Harper Black, he attended Dunmore High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.  Prior to retirement, he operated Black’s Texaco Service Station on the corner of West Drinker and Electric Streets in Dunmore, and also worked for Pane Motor Sales and Carl Evans Auto Sales in Scranton.  He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who will be extremely missed.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Hyzinski and staff, as well as those with Hospice Advantage for all of the care and compassion shown to Samuel and his family during his times of need. 

 

Also surviving are sons, Samuel D. Black of Dunmore, and David W. Black of Fleetville; grandchildren Eric Black of Little Neck, NY, and Marina Black of Mt. Cobb; great-grandchildren, Tyler Black of Mt. Cobb, and Zora and Henry Black of Little Neck, NY; nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Sprandel and Evelyn Edwards; and brothers Walter and George Davidson.

 

The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.  Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Township.

 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 p.m.

Marie, I just read about Sam, I am so sorry, I know Sam most of my life and he was a good guy, may he R.I.P.
