Vera Fay Healey, 101, formerly of Dunmore, died Thursday in the Fritzingertown Senior Living Community in Drums. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the late John J. Healey, on Feb. 20, 1988.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Terrance and Esther Mennig Fay, she was a graduate of Carbondale High School, class of 1932. A woman committed to her faith, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the 800 Club. 

She was deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother and to St. Ann, whom she considered to be her patron for over 90 years. Vera attended daily Mass and kept her loved ones and those in need in her prayers and novenas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are sons, Joe Healey and wife, Irene, of Sugarloaf, and children, Tom, Lynn, Patrick, Terry, Sean and Katie; Frank Healey of Lansdale, and children, Brian and Kevin; Jerry Healey and wife, Mary Ann, of Dunmore, and children, Gina, Michael and Jennifer; and John Healey and wife, Sheri, of Dunmore, and children Megan, Kerry, and Alicia; son-in-law, George Greech of Conyngham, and children, Erin and Molly; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Healey Greech.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
