William A. Hart, Jr., 66, of Scranton, formerly of Dunmore, died Monday morning in Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William, Sr. and Helen Purcell Hart and was a 1966 graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement, he worked for the former Scranton Tribune/ Scrantonian for 23 years and then worked for the Lackawanna County Transit Authority as a driver.

He was a founding member of the former “Sunday Sun” newspaper and an active member of the Printer’s Union. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and a member of the Lithuanian Taurus Club, N. Scranton. He also served on the Lackawanna County Democratic Committee.

He was a devoted caregiver to his parents and was surrounded by his family and friends when he passed away. The family wishes to thank Ms. Susie Pethick and the entire staff at Mt. View Care Center for their attentive and compassionate care.

Surviving are brothers;  Patrick J., W. Virginia; James P. and wife Terry, Mercer, Pa.; Gerard C. and wife Anne, Huntersville, N.C.; John F. and wife Peggy, Dunmore and Thomas J. and wife Elizabeth, Minooka Section of Scranton. An aunt; Shirley Lavelle, Scranton and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister; Jean Marie.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Ave., Scranton.

Interment, Dunmore Cemetery

Friends may call Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home and are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.
